Family-Owned, First-Generation Italian American

When In Rome is run by our family, first-generation Italian American, making authentic pinsa romana the traditional way. We import our ingredients directly from Italy because that's what real Roman pizza takes, and we're not in the business of cutting corners on the recipe.

Our Story

How It Started

When In Rome is a family-owned food truck, first-generation Italian American, making pinsa romana, the traditional Roman style pizza, thin, light, and hand stretched. We use only the highest quality ingredients, imported directly from Italy, because that's what real Roman pizza takes.

One ingredient gets its own story: our Music Garlic. It's grown right in Aliquippa, PA, by a guy everybody calls the Garlic King. They call it Music Garlic because, in his words, it makes you sing. Think a little heat, a little Michael Corleone, and you've got the idea. It ends up in almost everything we make, and it's a big part of what makes our red sauce taste the way it does.

Our Crew

Not only do we make the best Roman style pizza in Pittsburgh, we've got the number one pizza crew. #Famiglia. Every pie starts with ingredients sourced the same way we'd want them for our own table: meats and cheeses through Cesina's Sausage and Nappies Food Service, local as often as we can manage it. #SupportLocal
